Remember When Triple J Broadcast Live From Jim Morrison's Grave?
- by ABC

WE'RE PULLING ONE FROM THE ARCHIVES FOR A UNIQUE CELEBRATION OF THE ICONIC FRONTMAN OF THE DOORS.
This Saturday marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Jim Morrison, but back in 1991, triple j flew Richard Kingsmill to Paris to mark what was the 20th anniversary.
At the time, speculation about Morrison’s death was still running high, as was the emotion. Broadcasting live from Morrison’s grave at Père Lachaise, the city’s most famous cemetery, Kingsmill spoke to fans celebrating the music, poetry, and legacy of this most legendary of figures.
Double J will be dusting off the 1991 broadcast, titled a Strange Day At Père Lachaise, as a special episode of The Funhouse on Saturday 3 July.
“This is the first time we’ve aired this special since it was first broadcast 30 years ago,” says Kingsmill. “Back then, no one really knew what had happened to Morrison in 1971, hence the years of speculation and mystery.”
